The candidates we hope to attract will possess the following qualities:

  • Spirituality – A lifestyle that consistently reflects the Christian’s journey of sanctification and a maturity that permits the effective modeling and teaching of the values the Geneva School strives to impart.
  • Experience -- A demonstrable record among young people in a structured, pedagogical capacity.
  • Training – A clear course of academic study that either directly leads to teaching professionally, or demonstrates a seriousness of purpose by striving to achieve a high professional standard in another field, whether related or unrelated.
  • Child-sensitivity – An evident affinity and empathy for children, as well as a discernable and mature understanding, trained or otherwise, of child development.
  • Professionalism – Through references, work history, and professional development, an evident dedication to life-long learning by continually improving oneself professionally in an area related to teaching or other disciplined intellectual endeavor, and personally in intellectually enriching activities.
  • Creativity – A demonstrated capacity for imagination, ingenuity, resourcefulness and vision, evident in the candidate’s history of problem-solving, pursuit of efficiency, diagnosing difficult work or personal situations and crafting solutions, and being able to articulate the lessons learned from past professional and personal successes and failures.
  • “With-it-ness” – An indefinable but readily apparent quality of being at home in a classroom or teaching environment, and the confident ability to apply the many tools of teaching acquired by academic study or experience.
