Where do Geneva students go to high school?
Geneva students continue on to the finest schools in NYC and beyond. Our graduates have gone on to many fine schools like Poly Prep, Spence, Browning, Marymount, Fordham Prep, LaGuardia, Stonybrook, Hunter, as well as top specialty schools of their choosing, such as Professional Performing Arts High School and Aviation High School. Our education provides students with the tools and confidence needed to continue their pursuit of excellent education as they desire.
Where do Geneva students come from?
In general, Geneva students come from New York City's five boroughs as well as New Jersey and Connecticut as our Manhattan locations exist to support families choosing to raise families in NYC. However, as our city draws a varied population, our students come from various national and international locations mirroring the incredible diversity of New York itself. We believe this is part of the strength of our school, and one of the defining and unique attributes of Geneva School of Manhattan.
Does Geneva accept non-Christian students and families?
There is no restriction on applicants. However, it must be realized that this school exists because of, and for, Jesus Christ. Our families must agree in writing with, and adhere to, our Statement of Faith as part of our application process, recognizing that a lack of sincere support for the Christ-centered worldview taught at Geneva would be both confusing and detrimental to the student. We are here for the glory of God, and welcome anyone who wants to share in our pursuit of knowing Him and learning to be more like our Savior.
Is this an ethnically diverse school?
Yes! Geneva School does not intentionally select, recruit or otherwise "aim" for a diverse population, but as stated above, this happens naturally as a result of the city we support.
What is the cost of an education at Geneva?
We are committed to making the education at Geneva as affordable as possible for our students. With our graduated tuition schedule and a top tuition that is nearly half of competitive independent schools in New York, the value of an education at Geneva School is hard to match. Our excellent faculty, intimate learning environment of individual focus, and access to the City's top cultural landmarks all come together to make Geneva School a truly unique learning environment. We offer a very generous amount of need-based financial aid to the extent our budget allows to make the Geneva experience accessible to those who desire it.
Admissions Questions
Do I need to apply prior to scheduling a tour?
Feel free to contact our admissions office for a tour at any time. We welcome the opportunity to introduce you to Geneva School at any point in your process of discovery.
Is there a birthday cut-off for applicants?
There are recommended ages for our grade levels, and we do attempt to adhere to these guidelines, however, exceptions can occur. There are many factors that go into the decision of grade placement. While a child may exhibit certain strengths that on the surface indicate a specific grade placement, long term success is the goal of our decision process. Emotional maturity, motor skills development, and social success are equally important in the development of a student, and so the evaluation of a request to deviate from our recommended guidelines considers these factors, as well as the parent/family's input. The decision to deviate from age guidelines is ultimately up to our Admissions Committee.
What do you look for in an applicant?
We seek students who exhibit the will to work hard in a challenging academic environment, and the desire to grow spiritually mature, becoming leaders of character and thought. We examine standardized testing results and past performance as part of our process. We look for students who seek to grow in faith and knowledge, and have the abilities to do so here at Geneva. As families play a large role in the education of our students, the family dynamic, worldview, and commitment to partnering with us in that education is also considered.
How and when do I apply?
Applications are mailed in September for the following school year, and can be requested from our site via our inquiry form. See out Admissions Timeline for assistance as to when to apply, but in general, the earlier the better. Our small class sizes limit the availability of seating. We are a school that engages in a rolling admissions policy, and so it is never too late to apply for a given year, or transfer. Please inquire with our Admissions Office to begin the process.
How much financial aid can I receive?
The amount of financial aid varies as individual needs vary. Our financial aid committee looks at each family's ability to pay individually, and makes a determination of an award based on many factors. Our financial aid award will be determined and you will be notified after the application for enrollment process is complete. There are also many payment plans and options to assist in affording Geneva School, so you are encouraged to apply.
