Spelling and Vocabulary

Reading

Study of great American and British poets and novelists. Further development and understanding of literal and figurative language.

Writing

Emphasis on persuasive writing, personal narrative, poetry, research report, and fantasy.

Latin

Introduction to Latin using Cambridge Latin Minimus and Secundus.

Math

Saxon Math Level 7/6 with a transition to Singapore Math Primary Math U.S. Edition Level 5A and 5B in Fall 2011.

Science

Purposeful Design, Level 6 is key text. Lab-based, hands-on, experiential learning covering the subjects of energy, heat, electricity, magnetism, space, chemical changes in matter, cells and diseases, plants and ecology.

History and Geography

Complete study of Renaissance and Reformation periods, plus study of modern-day explorers.

Bible

Focus is on the Pauline Epistles.

Music

Continued study of voice and pitch development, musical theory, and period study of classical composers and their work.

Visual Arts

Emphasis on drawing people from multiple views and angles and working to refine proportion learn values and shading; continued study of major artists and art history.

Physical Education

Focused training in skills, rules, and strategy of key sports (basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball, and badminton).
