Within The Geneva School of Manhattan lives a vibrant community of faith and passion for excellence, embodied by parents, students, faculty, administration, board members, and alumni.
Geneva School relies on the total community to exist and thrive. With the knowledge that children grow best spiritually, emotionally and intellectually through connection to the body of Christ in multiple ways, Geneva school encourages a three-prong connection for growth: the family, the school, and the local church.
Geneva School embraces parent involvement at every level. Parents play a significant role in Geneva School culture and are a part of the diverse and rich community which often enables lifelong friendships. Parents are asked to participate in a parent time commitment”, consisting of regular involvement in a variety of school events, helping to create an active and thriving community. Opportunities include the Harvest Festival, field trip chaperones, the Parent Council, prayer groups, the Geneva Gala, service project volunteers, all-school picnics in the fall and spring, and classroom volunteers. Parents are urged to participate in their own areas of talent and giftedness.
There are also events designed specifically for parents to enjoy, such as parent education events with outside speakers, a new parent reception in the fall and a parent appreciation celebration in the spring. Weekly chapels bring the whole community together for worship and class performances. Chapels are open to both current parents and prospective parents. Geneva School parents are artists, business owners, full-time homemakers, pastors, teachers, and physicians. Geneva School draws from all five boroughs, New Jersey, and Westchester.
Our school's success relies greatly on the day-to-day interactions between teacher and student. Although the majority of our teachers have a higher degree in education, The Geneva School of Manhattan's faculty is also chosen because of their expertise and ability to inspire children to learn, as well as their passion and willingness to serve Christ through their giftedness as a teacher. Parents have regular opportunities to connect with faculty and the administration, creating friendships across the community.
Because Geneva School families are involved in over thirty different active churches in the New York City area, Geneva School has become a diverse and exciting extension of the greater church community. Christ’s love and truth of his gospel unify Geneva School families and faculty, creating a wonderfully diverse community whose families come from many different nationalities and socioeconomic backgrounds.
We also work to cultivate community with prospective families and our city neighbors by offering concerts, performances, and parent education events. Our philosophy of community involvement and parent commitment ensures a stable, nurturing environment for our students. Whether you are new to our School or considering our School for your children, you are welcome to attend our events and be a part of our unique and vibrant community.
We seek to provide ways for our Geneva School community to serve our neighbors. In the past several years Geneva School has formed a partnership with A House on Beekman, a Christian organization that serves the South Bronx community. Our Seventh and Eighth Grade students spend time monthly with their preschool students as reading and center buddies. In addition, Geneva School students interact with the little ones during free and organized play. All of Geneva School will participate in a children's book drive to benefit this program.
